About Our Congregation

Questions You Might Have:

  • The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired Word of God and our only authority. This forms the basis not only of how we live, but how we worship.
    (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Colossians 3:17).

Teaching the word of God is an important part of our services. You will observe that the Bible is the textbook to which reference is repeatedly made in our sermons and classes. Special emphasis is placed on the New Testament (Romans 1:16). You will never be asked to simply accept what someone says about the Bible; we want you to read the Bible for yourself to see “whether these things are so” (Acts 17:11).

The Bible is our only guide and source of authority for everything we do. We strive to do nothing more, nothing less, and nothing else than what the Bible says.

    How To Become A Christian

Scripture teaches that to become a Christian we must hear his Word (Rom. 10:13-17), believe that Christ is our savior (Mark 16:16), repent of our sins (Acts 17:30), confess His name (Matt. 10:32-33) and be baptized (Acts 2:38). If you have questions on how to become a Christian, we would love to study with you!

  • Be Our Guest:

When you join us as a guest we hope you will feel welcomed and loved. It can be an uncomfortable feeling visiting a new congregation, but we will do our best to make you feel at home! Here are somethings to expect when you join us.

    Bible Class:

We meet for Bible Study at 9AM on Sunday and 6:30 PM on Wednesday. We have classes for all ages and would love for you to join us as we seek to better understand God’s Word.

    Worship:

At this time we meet for worship once on Sunday at 10AM. Just as we let the Word of God instruct how we live our lives, so we also let the Bible provide us a pattern for appropriate worship. As such you will find preaching, prayer, a cappella music, communion (The Lord’s Supper), an offering for the work of the church, and an invitation to become a Christian (or to be restored) based on the Biblical plan for salvation.

If you would like to hear an example of one of our sermons you can do so on our YouTube channel here.

  • We are the The Church OF Christ. That being said, we belong to Him. The church was established in Jerusalem on the first Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Acts 2). The church that meets at Hawesville strives to be as close to the pattern established in scripture as possible in all areas. Leadership, doctrine, salvation, and worship.

We seek to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

The Church of Christ pleads for a return to New Testament Christianity. We strive to “speak where the Bible speaks and keep silent where it is silent, calling Bible things by Bible names and doing Bible things in Bible ways. “We ought to obey God rather than men” (Acts 5:29).
